December 10 workshop Within the framework of the European Initiative for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR), and as part of the implementation of the Khiam Rehabilitation Center for Victims of Torture for the “Medical, Social, & Psychological Assistance for Victims of Torture” project funded by the European Union, and on the occasion of the 10th of January, the International Day for Human Rights, Khiam Center is honored to invite you to attend the workshop, held within the preparations for Lebanon’s presentation of its global periodic report about the situation of human rights in Lebanon and its parallel shadow report to be presented to The Human Rights Council of the United Nations in June 2010: Towards an efficient participation of the Civil Society
In elaborating the parallel shadow report on human rights in Lebanon Experts from Jordan and Lebanon and Humanitarian and International Organizations will participate to the workshop The program of the workshop: • The Universal Periodic Review, a new human rights mechanism. • The experience of the civil society organizations in Jordan while preparing for the national review it will be presented by Mr. Kamal Al-mashrkiek from the human rights institute in Geneva. • The Lebanese Civil society and its role in the preparation process (open discussion).
