About KRC Who are we? Khiam Rehabilitation Center for Victims of Torture is a non governmental organization. KRC is a member of the International Rehabilitation Council for Torture Victims (ICRT), Global Network against Torture-SOS. Furthermore, KRC is the secretarian of AMAN network (Rehabilitation of victims of violence and torture in the Middle East and North Africa). KRC was founded in June 1999 as an outcome for the efforts of the follow-up committee for the support of Lebanese detainees. It was called Khiam Center after Khiam detention camp in Southern Lebanon that was closed on May 23, 2000. In addition, KRC was granted consultative status with ECOSOC (United Nations Economic and Social Council) in July 2010. Objectives Rehabilitation for victims of violence and torture and develop the mechanisms to protect basic human rights, advocacy, and prevention. Defend for equality and justice, and fight against all forms of discrimination and violence against human rights. Our Vision: Rebuild a society destroyed by a culture of torture and violence, by promoting democracy, co-existence and respect for human rights, and contribute to the global effort of abolishing torture, and discrimination. Our beneficiaries include victims of torture and their families, children, violence towards women, and victims of war. Our Mission - Work against violence and torture, enforced disappearances, and all forms of human dignities. - Work against poverty and develop economic and social rights for marginalized groups such as women, children, refugees, and prisoners. - Medical, psychological, social, legal, and vocational assistance for victims of violence and torture. - Participate in human rights conferences and against isolation and torture.
