A Memorandum About The Situations Of Arabian And Palestinian Detainees In Israeli Prisons

The Israeli occupying forces have set many detention Camps, where they imprisoned thousands of Arabians and Palestinians, in an attempt to isolate them and decrease the resisting operations against their occupations.

They have used many ways to achieve this goal:

-Random detention.
-Detention due to intelligence information.
-Detention based on the others' admissions.
-Detention during sudden rounding.
-Detention occurred after a military fighting.
-Managerial detention.

Physical and psychological torture was practiced in many ways:

-To cuff hands with metallic bonds that leads to swellings in hands and fingers due to blood withheld.
-To force detainee to undress.
-To force him to squat or to stand for a long time.
-To put chair on head.
-To punch violently on head, chest and sexual organs.
-To tug hair and moustache violently.
-To torture by electric chair.
-To shake body violently.
-To toss cold water and expose to cold air.
-Deprivation of sleeping.
-To address insults and outranges and to spit on face.
-Mocking at the naked detainee.
-Menacing with carrying his mother or sister or wife into the jail.
-Menacing with killing as others were assassinated.
-Menacing with driving out of his country.
-Menacing with destructing home.
-Deprivation of drinking and eating for several days.

Hence, Israel has pursued, through its security forces, severe torture against the detainees the thing that led to the death of many. In Feb 27, 2000, the Israeli government has given its prosecutors the official permission to use those ways of torture.

After the breaking out of the Palestinian revolution in Sept 28, 2000, high justice court of Israel gave a lawful order to the Chin Bit to deprive the detainees from sleeping. The Israeli government hasn't abstained from torturing children who were arrested during the revolution.

There are about seven thousands of Palestinian detainees in the Israeli prisons, as 70 women are among them. In addition, Israel has detained 15 citizens from Julan, and subjected them to severe torture. There are also about 20 Jordanian detainees as well as a lot of missing and martyrs' corpses that have been denied by Israel. Arabs and Palestinians in those prisons live in disastrous conditions having the occupied forces deprived them from the outcomes of their long years of struggle; parents visits are forbidden and periods of picnic and sport are shortened

What the detainees are suffering in the Israeli prisons violates the principles of human rights and this urges us to raise this issue in the whole world in order to get those detainees freed.

Thus we ask for:

-Sending an international commission to investigate the detainees' situations.
-Working together to stop the managerial detention and releasing the internees ones.
-Releasing the detainees who are convicted with long and life sentences.
-Discharging of children and women.
-Stopping the torture and considering the Palestinian detainees as internees included in Geneva conventions.
-Taking a legal action against perpetrators.
-Releasing the detainees of Al-Julan.
-Re-obtaining the gains that have been achieved by the struggling movement over the past years.
