Khiam Rehabilitation Center for Victims of Torture called on the dialogists in Doha to apologize from the Lebanese people and all the victims who were killed or injured and aggrieved in Beirut, the north, the Bekaa and the mountains. KRC also called for the formation of a joint committee from the pro-government supporters and the opposition consisting of lawyers and specialists to investigate all violations of human rights committed in the recent incidents; massacres, abductions, murder, torture, humiliation, burning and infringement on media and public freedoms in order to punish the perpetrators and to compensate to the families of the victims and the injured. KRC demands that the collocations that participated in the fighting, including individuals who have committed violations and abuses of political or sectarian reasons should bear the expense of compensations.

The center said that without a serious judicial investigation and the perpetrators do not escape from punishment and compensation to victims and an apology, such violations will be repeated with each new chapter of the Lebanese war.

If the criminals and the “heroes” of the massacres, kidnapping, torture and mass graves were punished since after the 1975 war and the wars that followed, these violations wouldn’t have been repeated in the war of May 2008.

The center demanded to reconsider the sectarian political system that is the cause of the entire crisis and wars, amazed the bypass of the political class in all its wings, the issue of the formation of the National Authority for the abolition of political sectarianism limiting the dialogue on the distribution of quotas and electoral interests.

The center calls on all the civil society bodies to raise their voices out loud and develop a media, cultural and social plan to help the reintegration of the national fabric of citizens and to remove the psychological barriers between the Lebanese after the removal of sand barriers and obstacles.
