Introduction:

The Khiam Rehabilitation Center for Victims of Torture began a workshop to initiate the action for the start of the KRC project: Medical, Social, & Psychological Assistance for Victims of Torture in Lebanon funded by the European Union.
In this regard, the Khiam Center held at the Center's headquarters in Beirut on April 28, 2007 a Seminar (Presentation of the project) for the medical and the administrative KRC team, the KRC social workers and the therapists to explain the goals of the project and its training applications.

In the beginning, the KRC Secretary-General, Mohammed Safa, spoke to the audience explaining that this project is the first of its kind in Lebanon and the Arab region specifying the points for the project to become a national one not limited to the Khiam Center only:
- the deep knowledge of the project.
- the sound management.
- participating with the civil society institutions.
- the Volunteers.

Then the Project Manager, Ms. Viviane Krayem introduced a detailed slideshow of the project's basic parts (objectives, the application, plans to be implemented in the regions, the length of time, working methods and results.)

For the same issue, an initial training meeting was held for the social workers and the psychologists to to fill up the forms required and prepare a work program in the regions.

The Project Manager announced the first training session of the working group project on 26 and 27 May, and the media launching of the project in a press conference at the headquarters of the Press Syndicate in Lebanon on June 26 the United Nation's Day to Support Victims of Torture.
